food(s) we can't live without?

New York Times food writer, and author of the new book "Spoon Fed: How Eight Cooks Saved My Life" (Riverhead Books, $25.95) , Kim Severson was recently interviewed by Niesha Lofing in the Sacramento Bee. When asked by Lofing which item in her refrigerator or pantry she absolutely could not live without, Severson had a surprising answer: seltzer and unsalted butter. And parmesan cheese. "If I have parmesan cheese and unsalted butter I can make dinner".

What one, two, or even three, ingredients are must-haves in your kitchen? The most interesting combo (with accompanying recipe), chosen by a panel of renowned neighborhood chefs, will win a copy of "Spoon Fed" courtesy of no theories. Contest ends Friday, June 4th at 5:00pm PST.
